- DigiCam V1.0
-
- With DigiCam some digitalcameras can be used with your sweet little Amiga. It
- implements the protocol figured out by Eugene Crosser <crosser@average.org>.
- The protocol is used by a family of cameras that share the same chipset and
- operating-system. Please have a look at http://www.average.org/digicam/.
- There you can find all the information about the protocol and there is also a
- list of cameras that are known to work.
-
- As in the moment of writing this guide, the list looks like this:
-
- - Agfa ePhoto line of cameras
- - Epson PhotoPC, PhotoPC 500, PhotoPC 550, PhotoPC 600
- - Olympus Digital cameras line
- - Sanyo VPC-G200/G200EX, DSC-X300
- - Nikon Coolpix 900 (Coolpix 600 is not compatible)
- - Sierra Imaging SD640 (compare this one with Epson PhotoPC ;-)
- - (probably) Toshiba PDR-2
-
- Sanyo VPC-X350EX can be added to the list, since this is the only camera I
- could get my fingers on to test DigiCam.
-
- DigiCam is similar to Eugene Crossers program called PhotoPC for linux, but
- it is no port of it.
-
- Since I had to implement the protocol for an university project,
- (see. http://pdv.cs.tu-berlin.de/forschung/TubRob/index.html if you are
- interested in a competition-winning, flying robot) I decided to write this
- program first as training, base and to figure out some more elements of the
- protocol (didn't found much though).
-
- I've to admit that I only used to days to write this program some months ago
- and I have now two additional days spend on testing, debugging and writing
- the guide. Mainly because the Sanyo is only lend from the university and is
- originally bend under modelhelicopter that is our flying robot called MARVIN
- (what else :)) acting as onbord-camera. There are probably some bugs left.
-
- Please note that DigiCam is only tested with a Sanyo VPC-X350EX, but almost
- everything* the protocol specifies is implemented, even if the Sanyo doesn't
- support it.
-
- If you use it with a different camera, you will probably come across functions
- and settings that do not exist at this particular model.
-
-
- * upload of pictures is not implemented
- therefore download of animations is :)
